Christina Poupalou
Born in Athens in 1991. She graduated with honours from the Athens Department of Music Studies. She also holds diploma degrees in piano (class of Mrs. Maria Michalopoulou), in Counterpoint and Fugue (class of Mr. Alexandros Dionatos). She has been a regular member of the children’s and youth choir of Agios Efthymios in Keratsini under the direction of the late pedagogue and conductor Mr. Dimitrios Kanaris (from 1997 to 2004) as well as acting accompanist of the same choir under the direction of Mrs. Chrysoula Tsimouri – Katsourou (from 2012 to 2016). Along with her studies, she participated in various choir festivals and competitions.
She has been both a regular and a temporary member of many choirs and vocal ensembles such as: ‘Rosarte’ under Mrs. Rosie Mastrosavva, ‘Fons Musicalis’ under Kostis Konstantaras, ‘Ars Nova’ under Dr Katalin Kiss, and, more recently, the female chamber choir ‘Fancy’, by conductor Eirini Patsea.
She has been both a regular and a temporary member of many choirs and vocal ensembles such as: ‘Rosarte’ under Mrs. Rosie Mastrosavva, ‘Fons Musicalis’ under Kostis Konstantaras, ‘Ars Nova’ under Dr Katalin Kiss, and, more recently, the female chamber choir ‘Fancy’, by conductor Eirini Patsea. She has attended choir conducting seminars with distinguished conductors such as: Miltos Logiadis, Anastasios Symeonidis, Michalis Paceas, Michalis Oikonomou and Dr Árpád Tóth.
She is a member of the female vocal ensemble ‘Equabili’, directed by Agathangelos Georgakatos.
In June 2019 she successfully completed (with distinction) the postgraduate program of the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Academy in Budapest entitled ‘MA in Kodály Music Pedagogy’, specializing in choral conducting (class of Peter Erdei).
Since September 2019 she has been collaborating with the Kodály Conservatory of Athens (teacher of piano, music theory, history and assistant conductor of mixed and youth choir). Finally, she was the conductor and coordinator (2019-2020), together with Mrs. Eirini Lagou, of the choir ‘Sedaye Azad’ (Free Voices), consisting of young girls from Afghanistan, aiming at their social inclusion and psychosocial empowerment through the choral experience.
She is currently the music director of the choir ‘Allegria’ (2022).
